Command Picture Hanging Strips

A mixed pack makes sense when a gallery wall contains several frame sizes. The appeal is flexibility without drilling, but the wall finish and the exact weight allowance decide whether these strips are suitable.

What it offers

Command uses paired interlocking strips. Its instructions require appropriate surface preparation and a waiting period before rehanging the frame. Fresh paint must have time to cure; the manufacturer specifies waiting seven days before installation.

Where it makes sense

We would plan the layout on paper first, weigh each complete frame and match it to the instructions for the particular strip size. Counting pairs is more useful than counting loose pieces when comparing packs. A mixed selection can reduce waste if the frames need different sizes, although it may leave you short of the size used most often.

What to check first

Avoid wallpaper and unsuitable textured or fragile finishes. Command advises against hanging over beds or using the strips for irreplaceable items. Removal involves stretching the tab downwards slowly rather than pulling the frame away from the wall. Damage-free removal depends on suitable paint and correct use.

Our verdict

A practical option for ordinary, replaceable framed pictures on sound, compatible walls. For valuable art, uncertain finishes or unsuitable loads, use an appropriate mechanical fixing instead.
