Harris Essentials Paint Brushes

This straightforward brush pack is aimed at the ordinary decorating jobs that appear between bigger renovations: edges, corners and modest touch-ups. It is best assessed as a basic set for interior emulsion work.

What it offers

Harris positions its Essentials Walls & Ceilings range for emulsion paint. The range includes a three-pack. Its care advice includes removing dust before use and washing out water-based paint promptly, then drying the brushes flat.

Where it makes sense

Several widths are useful because a narrow edge and a larger patch need different tools. We would combine brushes with a roller for a whole room, rather than brushing every broad surface. For occasional users, manageable purchase cost matters; for repeated precise cutting-in, the feel and control of a more specialised brush may justify comparison.

What to check first

Check the selected pack sizes before buying and match the brush to the paint system. Our review does not include a hands-on assessment of bristle shedding, paint pickup or finish quality. Good preparation, loading technique and cleaning can influence the result considerably.

THE DIY QUALITY VIEW

Our verdict

A reasonable shortlist for small emulsion tasks and a first decorating kit. Compare a dedicated trim brush if crisp woodwork edges are the main priority, and allow for the rest of the preparation and painting equipment.
